Text around circle baseline shift issue

I know how to do the text on a path so that the text on the bottom is upright. The problem comes when I use baseline shift in order to get it to line up properly with the outside of the circle. When I do this it causes the text to expand, most likely due to the tracking increasing.

Is there a way to keep this from happening? I've seen videos on youtube and posted asking that question, but I'm still waiting for a reply. He was able to get his to remain the same as the text on the top of the circle using CS3. I'm using CS4 which should at least be as good if not improved in capabilities, so I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my setup.

Guess you are using Rainbow and align to Ascender, leave Spacing to Auto.

I tgink the best match between the top and button texts are BOTH aligned to Center.

I'm pretty sure my tracking is set to auto. That's the icon in the character panel on the left with a line through the characters, right below the large T, which is for font size, correct? As for rainbow and align to ascender, where do you find that information? Keep in mind I'm using CS4 in case you're using a newer version and that's not a feature in 4.

I was able to adjust it through changing some things in the character panel but I'd prefer to have it automatically fit to the same size, etc as the text on the top without having to do things manually. Thanks for the help.

You might want to read the documentation to find all the options. https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/creating-type-path.html

There have been changes in the text engine through the versions. It has been improved.

Can you perhaps post screenshots of your issues?
