Text changing characters

Having some issues recently where opening an existing AI file the text changes to different characters.
Image attached for visual.. anyone have a fix for this?

I am using suitcase font system which could be a cause of this?

Did you update Illustrator to the new version? If so, Suitcase might be no longer compatible, which could lead to this.
