Hello, I want to insert a text hyperlink in an Illustrator file. However, the link is too lengthy, and I don't have enough space to display it all in a single line horizontally. So, I adjusted the size of the text box, and it ended up spanning two lines without a proper break. The issue arises when I convert the file to PDF because the link only includes the first line, making it incomplete.
I tried enabling hyphenation from the paragraph panel, and it added hyphens ("-") by default. This made the link appear complete in the PDF, but it altered the link by adding hyphens, which is incorrect.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could suggest helpful solutions for this problem.
So basically you didn't create a hyperlink in Illustrator, but your PDF Reader created it for you. That way what you experienced can happen. You need to have Acrobat Pro version and create the link in there.

Exactly how did you define the link? Can you show us the settings?

I treat it as plain text, and when I place a link in a single horizontal line, it typically works perfectly without any issues.

1-Copy the website link I want to put.
2-Open the Illustrator file and select "type tool."
3-Paste the link.
4-Switch to "Selection tool " and double-click on the outline circle of AreaType Text Box containing the link to convert it into a PointType Text Box, which allows for scaling.
5- Adjust the size as I needed.
6-Save the file in PDF format.

One way to do it without making the whole hyperlink visible:
Create a rectangle as large as you want a clickable area.
Place it behind some text you want to be clicked on.
Go to Window > Attributes and show the panel options.
With the rectangle still selected choose by Image Map : Rectangle and paste the URL in the field below it.
Make the rectangle invisible if you want.
Save as PDF with the option Preserve Hyperlinks checked.

It is effective when used with files saved for web, but does not work in PDF files.
