Question

Text import options on illustrator

During 2019 I had an error with the duplication of a folder that made me lose some files. After some digging through temporal versions, I was able to recover them, but sadly none of them open correctly and display the message "text import options". I haven't had any luck by placing the file onto another document, or opening them with adobe acrobat/distiller.

The files seem to have maintained their original sizes though, as none of them saw any reduction in MB after the corruption

Thanks for anyone's help and hope there's a way to recover them as they represent dozen of hours of work

Please do a hardware check on your disk. The Apple Disk Manager utility can help with that.

Next: get an external harddisk to make backups of your files. A harddisk is always cheaper than having to rebuild your files.

And maybe @Anshul_Saini can help with your file. There is not a lot of hope, but they can at least try.

Thanks a lot, after the incident I've set up multiple copies of my files, both on an external HDD and in the cloud

Hope something can be done, appreciate it!

Hi @Dezz259_Illust,

Thanks for reaching out. This error generally means the file has gotten corrupted. Would you mind confirming how or which app or utility was used to recover the file?

Also, please share a download link to the file, and I will check & try to recover the file.

I will be looking forward to your response.

Thanks,
Anshul Saini

Did you recover from TimeMachine?

Do the files have a ".ai" extension on them? If not, add the extension and try opening again.

Second, you can try opening in Acrobat.

If you didn't use TimeMachine and tried another recovery method, they are most likely fragemented and cannot be recovered.

I couldn't recover from time machine due to storage issues. The files do have an .ai extension on them. Sadly I've tried opening them in Acrobat, but to no avail
