I stumbled across this 3D ring type I'd really like to replicate but have been unsuccessful so far. I'd say I'm of an intermediate skill level in Photoshop and more of a novice in Illustrator. Any help would be greatly appreciated! The example below was created in After Effects but I'd like to be able to create a static ring of text.
Create your text and add it to the Symbols Panel.
Draw a vertical line.
Use the Effect > 3D > Revolve.
Offsett the Revolve Effect and use Map art to apply it to the revolved object,
Check the Invisible Geometry option.

Here is a typical workflow in Illustrator.
Input text and add it to the Symbol panel.
draw a rectangle.
choose the menu "Effect > 3D > Revolve" and set the surface to "wireframe" and apply surface mapping.
Expand appearance and delete unnecessary lines.
"Is there a way to create a spiral with this method too?"
Yes, use the shear tool and guides to create the symbol as shown at the top.

Thank you so much! Is there a way to create a spiral with this method too?

No, it looks like 3D, but the result is 2D.

Thanks for answering. What program would you recommend to achieve such an effect?

I am not a 3D expert. It probably depends on what you want to achieve.
Photoshop has some 3D options, After Effects can animate these type of texts.
