Text not visible in Illustrator 2022

I am trying to enter text using the type tool on a dedicated layer that is visible.

I have increased font size and set text colour

I have tried resetting preferences

I have ensured system is set to show edges.

What else can I try?

Duncan,

Copying the artwork into a new document worked over here,

https://community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/all-my-colour-fills-have-removed-from-artwork-after-update-to-26-0/td-p/12486784

I believe it may be a new random hit bug, sorry, feature in 26/2022.

Are you an M1 Mac user by any chance? The instances of disappearing objects I've seen seem to have that in common so far.

Duncan,

What happens if you create a new corresponding document and copy the artwork into that?

Can you show a screenshot with the text selected and layers/appearance panels visible?

I can see the text if I switch to outline view
