Text on Canvas keeps disappearing randomly

Newest issue I am having with Illustrator: My text on canvas randomly keeps disappearing. Sometimes only a few letters remain. Somtimes I see the text on canvas, but when I export text disappears in preview and final file. I tried to work around this issue by converting to outline, but when I do that, the font disappears all together.

 

I have multiple deadlines and Illustrator keeps disrupting my workflow in a major way. This is not funny anymore. This is a joke!!!!!! This is starting to cause seriouse damage to my work!!! 

 

The make matters worse, sometimes Illustrator just will not save my file. It just says "an error occured". Five minutes later the file saves. Then again not. What is wrong with this software????

I have two machines, and this behavious is on both machines. This is obviously a problem with the app itself.

I reset my graphics card. Problem remains. I restart Illustrator. Problem remains. I restart machine. Problem remains. Other people have reported similar issues. Can someone please post a work-around. This is extremly frustrating, expecially under time pressure.

1. Can you please add what version you're using and what OS?

2. List the steps required to replicate the issue in a new document. Be as detailed as possible, and make sure it is repeatable.

3. Can you link to any other discussions of people reporting similar issues?

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing. Could you please share a few more details, along with the ones asked by @Doug A Roberts:

  • Which GPU are you using?
  •  Are you using an external monitor(s)? If yes, with which port and cable combination it is connected.
  • Are you using any external GPU?
  • A small video demonstrating the issue could be really helpful.
  • Are you zooming in constantly while working on a file?
  • Does turning off GPU performance from preferences (ctrl + k/ cmd + k > Perfromance > uncheck GPU Performance) help resolve the issue?
  • Could you please share a sample document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.
  • Where are you saving the files (Network Drive/ System HDD/ Shared Folder on System/ External HDD)?
  • When did this start happening? Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, plugins, or web extensions installed recently.
  • Does resetting Illustrator Preferences ( https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html) help to resolve the issue?
    Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.
