Hi Vaidehi,

This should not happen. If I get the issue, you are not able to change the text size in Illustrator? What is exact version of Illustrator you are using? What is the OS running in your system? Would you mind sharing your workflow and a screenshot? For details, see: How to add a screenshot to a forum message from iPad/iPhone

Regards,

Om

Hi,

Did you recently install Ai? Are you on MAC or Windows?

Is this happening both in the Character panel and the options across the top?

Thank you

You can drag a corner of the Bounding Box (if it is shown, see View) and resize that way (proportionally if you hold Shift at the same time).

If you type (with the Type Tool) and click a new font/size/whatever, the next letter(s) should be changed accordingly.

If things do not work, you may need to reset the preferences.

How can these preferences be reset? My Illustrator is only changing the bounding box of the text with "Shift + Drag" not the actual size of the text.

Can we please see a screenshot, showing you have the text selected, and show us (marking in red would help)  where you are attempting to change the value. Would be good to see your entire character palette

This doesn't show it perfectly but you can see the text box is dragging bigger and the text is smaller inside. Screen Shot 2023-01-10 at 2.01.27 PM.png

This is an area text. If you enlarge the area, the text won't follow along. You could convert it to a point text or use the scale tool.

I just found the solution. If you double-click the circle connected to the right of the text box it allows for the textbox to be shift dragged.

Yes. Double-clicking that circle converts the text from area to point and vice versa.
