It's not in the Illustrator beta version. You have to update the application to GA (Generally Available) public release, which is Illustrator version 28.0 via the Creative Cloud app.
Hi @MSI3283372538om @Lukas26848664smfs,
Sorry for the confusion. As mentioned by Monika, the Text to Vector feature is available in the GA (Generally Available) public release, which is Illustrator version 28.0. This version should be available for all.
Please check for updates manually, and you should see the option to update to version 28.0. If updating doesn't resolve the issue, you can also try signing out and then signing back in.
If you're part of an enterprise environment, you may

The feature seems to be missing from 28.145, here at Max.

Same issue, tried Beta 28 and 28.1, 28.1 actually shows the prompt for it on the splash page and even opens the sample file, but the tool is missing. On regular Illustrator the latest version is 27.9 (no option to update beyond that). Attached a picture of my window menu with the demo file for text to graphic open in the background on version 28.1 45.

I could download the Illustrator update while watching the Keynote.

Had to reboot boot creative cloud, then go to the menu and manually do the help->check for updates. That prompted an update for illustrator (v28), and now it's downloading.

Please let me know if you continue to experience issues after updating to version 28.0.

it was confusing since the splash screen in Beta showed that the feature is there, but didn't appear.. why only in the general version though?

Hi, I'm in beta version 28.1 and it's not there. Why would the feature be included in 28.0 and not 28.1?

OK, I got it working. It is indeed in the 28.0 production version of Illustrator and not the 28.1 beta for anyone who had the same problem. I have a question about prompts, because I'm trying to do a storyboard that would involve the same person in multiple shots. How can I engineer prompts to show the same "person" for continuity? It seems like it's programmed to show a completely different person for every situation.

You can't do that in Illustrator.
Having the same person in multiple generated images would require to upload images of that person. You can somewhat do that in Photoshop and you can do that in other Generative AI models.

Thanks for the clarification. What feature in Photoshop would I be looking for to create multiple situations with consistent characters?

So this is a Beta feature that's not in the Illustrator Beta? Could that be any more confusing?

Hello, I have updated and even reinstalled Illustrator. There is nothing related to generation in the context menu when selecting a rectangle.
I managed to get the generation tab from the tutorial file, but the generation itself is not available there: all fields are grayed out

Did you already try signing out and then in again?
Did you get the alert asking you to consent to the rules?

I tried sighning out and back — did not help. Not sure about the rules though. There is always something popping up after an update. Don't think that I could miss it so many times when installing and re-installing update

Did you try a preferences reset? This will erase your settings, so you might want to rename the preferences folder, since that can be undone.

Hi @Deleted User @Ilya32923127j6sb
Sorry for the trouble. I'd like to clarify a few things:
The generate button in the contextual taskbar should show up after you've used the "Text to vector graphic" feature at least once in a new document. It's designed to appear when you engage with that specific function. So, if it's not showing up, you might want to try resetting your preferences, as Monika suggested. This can sometimes resolve issues like this.
If the problem persists, it would be helpful to share some additional information about your system:
With this information, we will be able to further investigate the issue.
Best,

Can you take this crap out of the properties panel? I'm tired of having to close it every time I open Illustrator so I can see, ya know, the properties.

I seem to remember that someone already posted a feature request on Uservoice. That's where your feature requests and bug reports go. Kinder language makes people listen to you over there.
The forum is 95% volunteers and we cannot change the app.
