Text typing by itself, loads of X/boxes appear.

When I choose the Type Box tool, and click in the document to create a Type Box or simply place text, as soon as the box is created, it fills with X's/squares and goes off on it's own continually typing the X/square. I've tried changing font, but it always defaults back to Myriad pro as it's typing. Tried fiddling with some preferences, tried shutting the program and restarting - not sure what to do. Please help!

Ok so after a lot of trying different things - I unplugged the keyboard and it seemed to fix it!

Hello @hollys16820993,

We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind resetting Illustrator's preferences as described in this article (https://adobe.ly/3zf3AAG) and checking if it helps?

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders, the location of which is mentioned above.

Also, try running Illustrator under Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hello @hollys16820993,

Sorry for the delayed response. Would you mind sharing some more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator, system information report (https://adobe.ly/4dCBVID), and a screen recording of the problem (https://adobe.ly/4d9sC3c), so we can investigate this further?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
