I searched for a long time online, but until now, I don't know how many years Illustrator has developed, but Adobe still won't let me disable the "automatically pop up" function of the Glyhps panel every time I change it. change font? Even with the official 25.0.0 release, I'm still crazy about this thing...

The current version is 27.9

Which glyphs panel are you referring to? The little popup when you select one letter?

@Monika Gause  Exactly, I'm talking about the window that pops up every time I select a letter... What I want is for this window to stop popping up automatically, when I don't have a need to use it. It takes up workspace, and not being able to manually turn it on/off is a really annoying experience!

So the complete glyphs panel opens when you select a letter? Or are you referring to that little thingy that is gone when you deselect the letter? The latter one can be stopped in Preferences > Type: deselect "show variants" (or the like, I have a German version)

Maybe I didn't speak clearly enough! One feature that has really annoyed me for a long time is that every time I select a letter, the Glyphs panel appears, even though I have no need to use this feature... And the strange thing is is that Adobe does not allow, or cannot do anything to allow users to actively enable/disable this feature!

That is not a screendump. Can you make a movie of what happens when you select a letter?

But maybe first try to reset your preferences.

Maybe I didn't speak clearly enough: The full Glyphs panel normally doesn't do that. In fact you are the first one on this forum I'm seeing to report that.

What does indeed pop up is that little thingy when you have selected a letter. So you might want to reset your preferences just as Ton already suggested.
