The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [CANT] in Illustrator trying to use 3D

Question

Im getting an "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [CANT]" error followed by "An error while processing the appearance of an object" error.  I have tried restarting my computer and reseting preferences but I recieve the same error.  I also get this error when I try to copy the contents of one file to another.  Any troubleshooting help would be great. Thanks

Sorry about this trouble. You may try the steps suggested in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/plugin-missing-issue.html) for Error: "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [CANT]" and let us know how it goes.

For Error: "An error while processing the appearance of an object" - If copying content to a new file didn't work, then you may try saving the file as PDF as editable and open that PDF in Illustrator, and then try editing it. If this doesn't help to resolve the issue, then I will request you to please share the document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link here or via DM.

Also, we have recently released an update for Illustrator 2021 (v 25.4.1), which contains some stability fixes. Therefore, I recommend you update to the latest version and then share your observation with us.
