I recently started getting this message as soon I open Illustrator "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error [CANT]" and once it opens all my tool windows are hidden and I have to open them one at a time. Can anyone help.

Hello, it happen with the latest version 20.3. Out of the blue the error pop up. I already uninstalled the app with the CC cleaner tool, reinstalled it and still having the same error pop.

Please look up the exact version in "About Illustrator" and tell us your system.

Also: did you update anything (system, Illustrator, anything else)

Sorry the exact version I was using when this happen was Illustrator CC (22.1). I'm using a Macbook Pro 2017.

And I did not made any updates at all.

No printer connected. I downloaded the latest version now.

This is a pretty common issue - make sure the account you are running has Admin privileges and the system folders have permissions set properly.

Can you try it under another user to see if the problem persists. This will also make us aware if it is a user preference issue or a system issue.

Same error message while taking a traced object to which I had successfully applied a Gaussian blur, and when I click on the Gaussian blur in object appearance and try to modify how many pixels of blur to apply, I get the same message (along with the follow-up message "An error occurred while processing the appearance of an object") and the previously applied Gaussian blur no longer appears. Even if I completely delete Gaussian blur from the appearance, and try to re-apply it, I get both of these error messages.

I'm using the latest Illustrator build 24.0.1 on the latest Mac OS Catalina 10.15.2. No third party plug-ins. And yes, the OS updated within the last 24 hours.

What exactly are you doing when this happens?

Please tell us more about the file - is it an old file? What is in it?

And please create a new thread for your issue, since the directions in this one don't help you.

Every time when I open an illustrator pop up a showing.

when pressing ok button illustrator open and didn't work and when I quit then illustrator crashed.

Ok me hindi me batata hu.

me jab bhi illustrator open karta hu tab ye error ka popup show hota he. Or me popup ko ok butten press krta hu tab illustrator open hota he but illustrator work nhi karta h jaise ki new artwork tool kuch bhi properly work nahi krta he. Fir jab illustrator close karta hu to illustrator crash ho jata h. So what should i do for this problem. Jald se jald solve karo kyuki bahot kam pending h mera me graphic designer hu or illustrator nhi chal rha he. 😭
