The shortcut "ctrl + tab"" to switch tabs (opened documents) doesn't work in Illustrator.

The shortcuts "ctrl + tab" and "ctrl + shift + tab" to switch tabs (open documents) don't work in Illustrator. They work in Adobe Photoshop (and any browser or app with tabs), but not in Illustrator for some reason. Please, somebody, fix it.

I'm sorry for the misleading information. But in any way, I managed to solve my problem.

My mac, by default, had the keyboard layout in Brazilian Portuguese. I have changed it to English ABC and now replace ctrl + tab in Photoshop with cmd + `.  It was exactly what I wanted.

Exactly there is not coherence with software. I think all of the possible shortcuts should be same on Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop ... But AI and IND are more similar....

Really late to reply, but this might help someone  - on my Mac M1, and the magic keyboard, its [COMMAND ~] . So I'm not entirely sure what that key is, I think it's the tilde key - see attached photo. Definitely works for me. So happy!!!

🤦‍:male_sign: Dude, that's the issue. Instead of the standard Ctrl (+ Shift) + TAB, some other weird shortcuts work. As a result, the shortcuts are inconsistent. Look at this:

App Shortcut to Switch Tabs

Adobe PhotoshopCtrl + Tab
Adobe IllustratorCmd + ~
ChromeCtrl + Tab
SafariCtrl + Tab
FinderCtrl + Tab

The purpose of this post is to request a UX improvement: changing the weird, nonstandard shortcuts to standard ones. These shortcuts aren't even consistent across Adobe's apps, let alone other applications. Why would anyone want to use several different shortcuts for the same feature? What's good about that?

Point taken. But for me, I'm just pleased to have found how to do it, as it's not well documented. I can live with it being a bit different. Peace .

If they were standard and not 'a bit different' in the first place, you wouldn't need to spend your time and effort looking for that information.

I included the 'Feature Request' and 'Bug' tags. Isn't that enough? If not, why do they even exist – to confuse users?

@Monika Gause  Is there a chance that the Adobe teams will start communicating with each other to create consistent products so users don't get confused?

Probably ask them, not me.

Unless someone is marked "Staff" in this forum, they aren't.
