The White colour outside the artboard

So I have this white space aroung my artboards which is really bugging me since it doesnt show up on other people's application(its usually gray), and I feel like I misclicked an option which is causing this. I just started learning illustrator so help would be realy appreciable

Hi

Go to Preferences > User Interface. Set the Brightness and change the Canvas Color. Your Canvas Color may say White right now.
