I am getting this error code when trying to paste from one document to another. I did the same thing a few days ago with no error. I have tried deleting my preferences file. It did not work. Can you help?

Which version on which system?
How complex is that object?

I am using the most recent version of Illustrator CC on the most recent update of the Mac. The object is complex but I have pasted it a number of times before. I'm just wondering what may have changed that is now preventing me from pasting it. I did have luck in rasterizing the image but of course that isn't ideal. I would like to know if something is slowing me down that will give me problems moving forward.

What OS & Illustrate version? Did you try restarting you computer, especially if on windows.
Can we see a screenshot of what you are trying to paste, or let us know what is in there fonts, possible stay points overlapping duplicate objects.

Thank you. There are a lot of small objects in it.
Rasterizing it might be not that good. Any chance you can reduce the number of small things? Are those applied as a mask?
What about the file you are pasting this into? Are there a lot of these small things as well?
And then: what kind of system is it? Perhaps an iMac Pro with one of these huge 4 K or 5 K monitors? There are issues with those because of the huge screen anyway. Can you perhaps turn down resolution and try if that works better?

I did restart the system as well as trash my preferences file. The image above is what I was trying to paste. I expanded the effects but it didn't make any difference. The only way I could get it to work was to rasterize it. I was pasting into a pattern template to rotate the image.

ou are getting RAM and Hard Drive capacity mixed up. You probably didn't have to delete anything or make room on your Hard Drive (though, it is a good idea to leave a few GB of hard drive space and keep things tidy).
See here for the true definition of RAM:
http://searchmobilecomputing.techtarget.com/definition/RAM
Meanwhile, see if lowering the value of your Document Raster Effects Setting (under the Effects menu) and letting us know if that helps.
Otherwise, the objects you are trying to apply the 3D effect on might be too complicated. Is there a way you can simplify them?

I get the same error, with a blank document, with a document containing a rectangle, with a complicated, multi-artboard layout.

I get the same error, simply creating a new empty document.
I launch AI-CC (v 22.1), create new document (letter-sized), and the first message I get before I've even put anything into the empty document is:
"There is not enough memory to process the appearance of an object"
Which raises the question: What object?

Every time I launch AI-CC (v 22.1), (I'm on a Mac) and either create a new document or open a file I get error message before I am able to do anything. Subsequent files, new or existing do not give an error, just the first one after starting Illustrator.
"There is not enough memory to process the appearance of an object"

Yeah. It's still happening to me after completely resetting Ai's prefs.

Create a new .ai file with the number of artboards needed. You also could try to use artboard flyout >> Rearrange All Artboards if that allows you to do that.

Hi Mike,
Please read my post, as soon as you create a new file it gives the error. You have no time to do anything. It would be a minor annoyance if it didn't also lag before giving the error.
Thanks

HI RawrRen,
I was replying to Pariah's post, but I recommend both of you try my next suggestion as you may have tried a less thorough method of resetting prefs for Mac (WIN is similar location). Flushing these prefs has fixed this exact same issue in the past so there is a good chance this may help you, and if not I have a few other ideas.
More Thorough Reset Your Preferences.
Quit Illustrator
Finder >> Shift Command G
~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator 22 Settings/en_US*/Adobe Illustrator Prefs
rename Adobe Illustrator 22 to Adobe Illustrator 22 old
Reset Your Other Preferences
Quit Illustrator
Finder >> Shift Command G
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator 22/
rename Adobe Illustrator 22 to Adobe Illustrator 22 old

Thanks, MikeGondek, but that didn't work. I get the same message in each Illustrator session with existing or new documents.

Sorry to hear that did not help, as I was trying to avoid suggesting teh lengthier process of running the Adobe Cleaner to reinstall.
Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
Am I understanding correctly from your post #8 those are 3 different situations, and for all of them you get the error? Does this put you in outline view? Feel free to post a screenshot if that might help us to see exactly what you are experiencing. Sounds like this makes your Illustrator almost unusable, can i ask what version OS & Illustrator you are running?
Might be a graphics card issue, and doing a COMMAND E (CTRL E on Win) to toggle out of GPU preview might resolve. Or adjusting the settings here:
