Threaded Text grayed out - Illustrator

I want to thread these text frames, so that I can select them all together, since Illustrator does not allow you to select more than one text inside a single frame at a time, but every time I select it all the thread text option is grayed out. Here is the text in question:

Does it work if you click the little box on the lower right side of the bounding box, then click on the next text object?
