Tilde + shift key with scale tool no longer scales a pattern/fill uniformly?

When i select a pattern/ fill only, I use to be able to manually scale it uniformly using the shift + tilde key.

Now it seems that keyboard shortcut always selects the curvature tool.

Currently when i select a pattern and scale it using the tilde key, it warps and skews out of proportion.

Is there a way to scale patterns/ fills uniformly like in the older Illustrator, using the tilde key?

Thanks!

Select the pattern-filled path, choose the Scale tool, hold down the tilde key, start to scale, then press the shift key and continue scaling.
