top control bar missing from Illustrator

Hi,  My top control panel with File, type, window, etc... has disappeared.  I've used this program for years and never had this happen. ( See first screenshot) I've searched and searched and all I keep getting is to go into windowns and then control.  Impossible since my "windows" option is one of the things that disappeared. (see second screenshot)  I'm sure there must be a really simple solution for this but I can't seem for the life of my to find it.  Any help appreciated.  Thank you!

Correct answer Brook Bradbury

WHen was the last time you rebooted the system and reset Illustrator preferences. Maybe you should do that now.

ok, so i just did a software update and that fixed the issue.  So strange though.  I've literally been using this program for more than 15 years and I've never had that happen before.  Thanks for the help 🙂

At first glance I thought the Tab button might have been pressed, but I see the tool bar is still visible. Something else wonky could be happening with the workspace. Sometimes resetting the workspace can fix such issues. Go to Window>Workspace>Reset (the workspace you're using).

sooooo... I'm not sure if you read my problem.  I can't get into the windows prompt because the entire top bar has disappeared

Do you have multiple monitors? How are they set up in the system?

Do you have any Window managers installed?

Set your display to have their own spaces?
