Top stroke tool missing

After a recent update my CC 2018 Illustrator had a lot of changes.  There was a little Stroke tool bar or line right at the top next to the file name.  I used this everytime I worked with Illustrator.  That way I didn't have to go to Window/Stroke to use my stroke settings.

Is this gone?  Or do I need to go to preferences to get it back?  I sure would like some help getting it back and I hope you understand what I am talking about.

Thanks

I was able to find an old old copy of Illustrator and found this to show you exactly what I mean.

Here is the screen shot.

I think what you are talking about is part of the Control Panel which has been replaced by the Properties Panel for CC 2018. However, you can get the Control Panel back by using the Classic Essentials workspace or just activating it under the Window menu.

Like Bill suggested, I also work with Essentials Classic. But FYI, when you select a path or when you choose a drawing tool in the Toolbar, you can click the hyperlink to Stroke in the Properties panel. It's under the word "Appearance".
