Question

Top Toolbar is Now Empty

I just completed the most recent update for Illustrator CC and now my top toolbar is empty and I cannot find anyway to get my tools back in there. I would like it to be the way it was before, always showing whatever tool was active - i.e. transform, text, etc.

@nicolass8657258 Has the simplest answer.

"Go to Window > Control. Click it and it should bring it back."

Go to Window > Control. Click it and it should bring it back.

It looks as if when cadtools is first installed, most people will only see the cadtools toolbar (which is blank when you aren't using any of the cadtools). The Illustrator Control Bar (What seems to go missing) is apparently, by-default, turned off when you install cadtools and first open illustrator. This can be fixed by going to Window>Control (click once).

Hi Rebecca,

Are you using dual monitor setup?

What OS you are using.

Have tried : Go to Window menu in application & unchecked the option for application frame.

rkellylrk,

Hopefully you have sorted this out, but I believe the toolbar you're looking for can be enabled by ticking Control under the Window drop down menu.

I'm frustrated by the remaining empty toolbar that I can't seem to hide or find a use for.

I have exactly the same issue. What is that empty toolbar for?

The extra empty toolbar I was frustrated by turned out to be the CADtools CADcontrol bar. Unless I was doing something with CADtools, it would appear as a empty toolbar. To disable it: Window/CADtools/Hide CADcontrol. It's shown by default after a fresh install.

rkellylrk,

You may consider reinstalling the full three step way:

Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.
