transfer Ai files to another pc

I have a new computer, want to move all my Ai work files from old pc to the new pc, whats best way to do that without losing links and keeping everything intact as is. I did not ue packaging when I created my work.

Please help

If you have everything on a single harddisk, and if you can use the same OS version (to start with), you ought to be able to clone it.

If we are only talking about a few dozen, there is no need to consider anything of the kind; basically it is the creation of an identical (structure in the) harddisk. I imagined something like a dozen dozen of dozens or more.

 

The recommendation by Adobe sounds promising; and you can see the result straight away.

The route will change no matter what you do. The original location for the linked files is tied to your current folder architecture.

If you can replicate the entire structure verbatim including all sub folders, etc. where the linked file is located then it may work without issue but there are no guarantees.

Otherwise I would centralize your linked artwork before migration. That will make it easier to relink when you transfer.

How many AI files are we talking about?

Name your drives exactly the same, and the absolute path will link up.
