Transform Palette mixing up Vertical and Horizontal

Attempts to transform objects using the Transform Palette treat horizontal coordinates as though they were vertical and vertical coordinates as though they were horizontal. How to rectify?

Rotated artboard?

Maybe restart machine/reset preferences?

Switch to the rotate canvas tool. (Shift H)

Doublclick it to reset

Quitting Illustrator and re-opening the document seemed to work. The disconcerting thing is that I did not consciously do anything to cause the problem. Thanks for the help.

It can happen that Illy (job description Adobe Illustrator) gets confused and simply needs to take a break, nothing to worry about.
