Hello everyone,
I have an problem which I cant seem to solve.
I made an illustration in adobe draw and added an image I made in a other drawing app (sketches).
This image has a transparant background but when I open this illustration as pdf and change it to eps the transparant background changes into white.
No i've noticed the problem lies in that particular layes because if I leave that image layer out it works fine.
How can I make sure that the transparant background of that particular layer (cloud background) does not turn to white when changing it to EPS?

EPS cannot contain transparency.
Why do you think you even need an EPS?

Hi Monika,
Thanks for the reply.
I dont think I need EPS but my client wanted it next to the PDF file because her printer requisted it.
I thought this was a bit strange, PDF is alway preferred for printwork.
But If I leave the particular image layer out (which i created in sketches and added into the illustration in illustrator draw) of the illustration the EPS does hold the transparant background.

Hi, Transparent Backround is i different thing in this case. The Transparency of which Monika refers is for eg 80% Opaque object or shadow effect or feathering. All objects need to be solid and 100% opacity.

Hi Grant H,
Oke, so just so i get this right. If i use the image and i reduced the opacity of that image it does not hold transparancy when transferred to EPS?
I attached a screenshot of the two different eps, one without the cloudy background image and the other one with. You can cleary see the differents.
Could you advice me what I need to do to get this right? Because if i make the background image 100% opacity the color is to strong and the image itself already has a transparent background..
Thanks
D

You would need to recolour the artwork in illy as to your liking with 100% opacity. In other words the new colour will be a blend of those two colours kind of thing

Try to select all and choose Object > Flatten Transparency before saving as EPS
Be carefull, flattening is destructive so use it on a copy of your file.

That does not look flattened, flattening removes all transparency.
Did you select all before flattening?

That is a painted image in the background. And it's transparent.
This kind of transparency cannot exist in an EPS.
So it will become a white square.

Yes if you flatten it against nothing then nothing becomes white.
If you flatten it with a colored background the background becomes colored.
If you want a transparent background, don't use EPS.
