Hi people,
I have an Illustrator file i always use to paste a PNG of a magazine with shadows. The file is originally done with a Photoshop magazine mockup and i do leave the background transparent when i save it as PNG. The weird thing is that is the first time i get a non transparent box around the PNG. It never happend again. I changed many settings exported again but i still get the visible box.
Any help or ideas?
Thanks

Do you place it in an RGB document or a CMYK ?
Linked or embedded?
If it is an RGB document, is the document color mode sRGB?
You have a dropshadow on the image, was that effect an Illustrator effect?

Since I cannot replicate your problem, maybe you can share an Illustrator file that shows it.

When you paste the file into a color background Illustrator file the box does not appear with the light grey color?
One solution i temporary found is that i paste the image exactly at the right size of the magazine without the any extra space. It is ok, i cannot use the original PSD shadow which is better and more subtle than the Drop Shadows from Illustrator.
Thanks for your help Ton

I placed your shared PNG file in Ai and it looks ok without any background in Ai.
Other solutions.
Can you flatten all your layers in Photoshop before exporting as PNG from Ps.?
Also try to place PSD file itno Ai without exporting.

No, it looks fine on a colored background, I placed the file, scaled or not embedded or linked.
