Trouble with an actions in Illustrator

Based on suggestions to a question I asked earlier, I have been making actions for some of the tasks I do often.  I have tried to make an action for the Roughen feature in the Distort and Transform effects. 

 

The settings I want to save and use are Size=.01, Detail=19, Absolute, and Smooth.

 

I select an object, begin a new action called "roughen" then start recording and enter the settings above. After the settings are applied, I stop the action. The box is checked in the actions, but when I run the action, nothing happens. Also, there is no down arrow in the action name to indicate there are one or more adjustments. 

 

Any help would be appreciated, if you can make it work.

Maybe saving your effect as a Graphic Style first and then to add the style to your Action.

    Rudi, I created a new user defined graphic style with the roughen settings and saved the graphic style. That may be the ultimate solution...but I tried making a new Action that used the new graphic style and it didn't apply the settings.

    Roughen works in a random way. You want to produce the exact same result everytime?

    Start recording your action, but before you apply the roughen effect, go to the Action's Panel flyout menu and click on "Insert Menu Item...", then continue going to Effect->Distrort And Transform->Roughen...

    Carlos, Thanks...I am a step closer. This adds Effects: Transform & Distort: Roughen into the action, but it is not saving the data entries I applied before stopping the action.  So far, this action brings up the entry box, but I have to manually reenter the fields and check boxes. 

     

    Note, I tried entering the data before going to the add menu item command, but I can't get into that menu while the other one is still open.

     

    I seem to be close, but am missing something.
