While using 3D effects, in Illustrator you might encounter the following error messages and limitations:
Unsupported objects: 3D effects are not supported on raster images, Mesh, single anchor point object, etc. If you apply the effect to an unsupported object, you will receive this error message.
"3D and Materials' effect currently works only on some object types and cannot apply as multiple instances."
Complex objects: For certain complex paths, 3D effects are only partially applied. In such scenarios, you will get this error message.
"3D and Materials' effect currently does not apply entirely on some object types."
Stacking 3D effects: Stacking multiple 3D effect instances on an object is not supported as of now. If you attempt to add 3D effect to an object which already has 3D effect applied, you will get this error message.
"3D and Materials' effect currently works only on some object types and cannot apply as multiple instances."
Export as OBJ: You can export 3D effects as a 3D model in OBJ file format. This file format doesn’t include materials and only includes the shape of the object. Support for other formats that support materials will be introduced in future updates.

3D can be applied to vector paths, but not to PNGs.

Shrishti Bali, thank you. I got your letter. It didn't take long, just a few months. During these months, I lost the Illustrator application.

You need to create the artwork for printing? Or is this about the 3D effect?
In any case: please create a new thread and describe in detail what you want to do

I am new to Ai and I have drawn a rectangle background with some text on the artwork added using the Type Tool when I try to render a 3d material of all of the elements grouped, I get the "3D and Materials' effect currently does not apply entirely on some object types." error message. I made a similar artwork yesterday with no problems, what am I doing wrong for it to be happening now?

It depends what you used to create the art, did you apply a Gradient or used the mesh tool?
if you didn't then the other possibility you might have not applied the correct 3D.
if you supply a screenshot of your art, it will be easier to help you trouble shoot.
keep in mind if you drew a rectangle then if you applied the effect by itself by selecting extrude or revolve - which only works for a circular object.

Hello there, I have attached the artwork below along with a reference inspo photo for what I am trying to achieve. Even when all of the elements are grouped, they won't seem to react with each other to create the cushion-like effect.

I see what you are trying to do, treat your text separately from the other graphic. Here is some information to help guide you. https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/create-3d-graphics.html
this video tutorial from YouTube is good to watch.

That is not a tutorial. It doesn't have explanation.
What is important here is where the effect is applied.
In the Layers panel you have to watch carefully for the target symbol (the circle to the right). When it's grey, there's some appearance applied to it. In this case: the 3D effect.
Here: effect applied to the group. You first group the elements and then apply the effect. to the group:
Here: effect applied to the single objects: you just select them and apply the effect
