Turn off on-canvas glyph alternatives

So new to Illustrator 2017 is the alternative glyphs on the canvas.

How to work with special characters in Illustrator

This has been added to Photoshop as well, however it can be turned off in Photoshop. (Preferences > Type > Enable Type Layer Glyph Alternates)

Can we get this on/off preference added to Illustrator in an update please?

    PLEASE TURN OFF GLYPH POP UP! It's a useless annoying feature. Why? Just why?

      Unfortunately "show alternates" is not a box you can uncheck, did you happen to mean "show charater alternates"? Unchecking that box and "enable missing glyph protection" both did nothing so solve the green pop text that says "glyphbound" so I think Adobe still needs to add a way to turn this off 


      You have this issue with the green popup text in version 24.3?
