Turn Off Pen Tool Guide Line (Rubber Band) - Illustrator CC 2014

Working in Illustrator CC 2014. There is a guide line that follows the pen tool as I create my paths and shapes. I don't remember this from earlier versions of AI and I find it very distracting especially when creating curves, changing directions or once I've finished drawing a stroke. Does anyone know how to turn this feature off?

UPDATE:

If you want to turn this feature off here's how...

Preferences > Selection and Anchor Display > Uncheck the Enable Rubber Band for Pen Tool

For anyone who is having trouble unchecking this option. Try deleting your user preferences. That seems to do the trick.

oh thank god!!!  I'm just learning the pen tool and that is driving me nuts!!  I'm sure it will be useful eventually, but right now I just want to concentrate on making one or 2 curves.

Rubber band is one of the best,  if not the best feature of CC, and yet people turn it off rather than learn to use it ...

Why an earth would anyone not want to see exactly where the path is going fall ?

Unless they  have some fetish for spending hours post adjusting the anchor points.

Ooooooow run for the hills !!  the runner band monster  is following me about.

Studies need to be conducted to see if  the rubber band phobes are the exactly the same users that get  an immense  thrill out of using keyboard shortcuts to 100 % type a drawing.
