I have spent the last week trying to get Illustrator to export svg. Totally fine before. Spent 3.5 huors with support team totally wrecking my graphics settings, then having to kick them out and reinstall everything.
The export starts, then either looks done or freezes totally. Nothing exports.
I really need svgs as I am a web developer. what on earth is going on? Everything is up to date.
This looks like a file specific issue. Shared file was behaving the same way as you explained in your post. Instead of using Export option, I used Save as a copy to save the file as SVG. Took some time but got SVG files using this method. You may try this on your end as well. Please download the files from here.
Hope it helps.

What's in your file? Can you upload your file to Dropbox or the like for someone to test?

So there are 200,000 paths in this file and 2,000,000 anchor points and you are wondering why this doesn't want to export to SVG?
The other files that worked well weren't quite as large, I suppose?

I've just encountered the same issue with my files. All dofferent clients, all different amount of paths. I honestly feel this is an adobe issue... someone let thr account people decide what featues to keep and not

@Monika Gause funny enough I just tried to re-export and it worked lol - after days of troubleshooting, I just left it and just tried now. To my point - Adobe fail. Thanks for your time:)

Same thing is happening to me right now. It hasn't been fixed in my case, though. I was normally exporting my artboards as SVGs until one hour ago, when I suddenly started having problems. It either gets stuck and doesn't get to export the SVG at all or it exports with errors (without texts, for instance). I'm using the Save as copy tip that was shared in this page before but it's not sustainable for my workflow since I need an especific SVG configuration.
This is happening in all kinds of files, with more or less anchor points, and even in files that i was able to correctly export SVGs from like an hour ago.

Hello @Ana23840758bs0j,
Sorry to hear about your experience. Could you share more details, like the OS/Illustrator version, link to a sample AI file (after uploading it to Dropbox/Google Drive/etc.), and a screen recording of your workflow and the problem, so I can try and check it on my end?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi! My Illustrator version is 26.0.2. As it happened to @UXO11 it seems that the problem was fixed on its own and I can now export SVGs without any visible issues. Anyways, this is one of the files I was having issues with. However, I doubt the problem was the file itself since it was happening in multiple files. I can't record my screen now since it's not happening anymore. It just got stuck while generating the SVG (Export as -> SVG) or generated an incomplete SVG (without the texts).

Hi @Ana23840758bs0j,
This seems to be a looping problem for years. People complain and then eventually a work around, the issue disappears or an update fixes with plenty more thoughts on the cause and resolution.
So far there is no explanation to what causes this and with the main resolution being updates, is it a bug?
And how since 2017 or potentially earlier has this issue kept reoccuring?
Direction on how this issue arises and can be fixed would be greatly appreciated by many I would assume.
It's tricky finding the correct conversation and impossible to find the cause let alone an actual solution. It's costing me time and money to pay for a program that doesn't function properly.

Update, testing 2 files with multiple artboards and basic graphics.
File 01 with 100 artboards exported indvidual SVG files as "save as" without issue.
File 02 with 72 artboards exports smaller quatities of artboards using the "save as" method. This was the original file I was having issues with. This work around came from another conversation around a simimlar issue in 2022 from memory.
It all seems a bit hit and miss and a clich in the program (again). It'd be helpful if repeated issues were considered before updates are released.
It would be nice to go back to when "export for screens" would let you export multiple file types for multiple artboards.
Is the reoccuring issue coming from the software and/ or updates?

Work around!
Spend an hour or so researching the issue, watching tutorials and implementing work arounds and solutions.
Then complain about the issue to Adobe... play around some more and open another file. Try some more suggested work arounds for 10 minutes or so and then go back to try and what you did all morning.
Like in other conversations the issue will randomly disappear.
Read everything, try everything, then complain, try some more of the same things you had already tried and maybe the issue will just disapear.
Like a lot of other complaint conversations, this has resolved itself and no one will know what the actual issue is or the solution.
Looking forward to the next update.

@sarahc17678925 did this issue fix itself when you complained in an Adobe forum?
It happening 3 times is a conspiracy isn't it?
Cause and solution seem to remain a mystery @Monika Gause ?

And I need each artboard as a separate svg, they aren't much use to me as one giant document. It's not really the point of a logo is it.

Hi just wondering if this solution was marked as correct by the author as they didn't reply?
Or has a moderator marked it correct and the author just moved on?
