Hi all,

I am a newbie to illustrator and not at all a techie!

I downloaded a personal use font from da font - it downloaded to windows10 fine, but it won't upload to illustrator.

I've closed illustrator down and reopened bit it still doesn't appear.

I did the same with another font at an earlier time and that worked fine

Thanks

The easiest way to install a font from a downloaded zip archive is...

    1. Open the .zip folder
    2. Drag the font file out of the .zip folder and onto your desktop
    3. Right click the font file on your desktop and choose Install

The above will only work if you have administrator rights on your computer. The Install option won't appear when you right click if you don't have the proper access. If that's the case, you'll need to have your system administrator install the font for you.

    Hello kimw35787215

As mentioned above, you may try to install the font on the machine and then launch the application. Illustrator should be able to pick the fonts installed on the system. You may check the below link it has the information on how to install fonts on Windows OS.

    https://www.fontspring.com/support/how-do-i-install-fonts-on-my-windows-pc

If that also don't work you may try the below steps:

    1. Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2019

    2. Create a folder Fonts

    3. Copy and paste the font file in that location.

    4. Launch Illustrator and check.

    Thanks,

Thanks Nikhil_R_Gupta, I was suffering a headache for this issue on windows 10 and the solution was move the fonts to the Illustrator folder. So happy now

It's usually best to manually install fonts & usually best to install them in the location that serves the entire system rather than a particular user. Traditionally that location on windows is C:/WINDOWS/FONTS. I'm not 100% sure if that is still correct but in any case you would want to unzip the fonts then just drag the .ttf ot .otf files into that location.

Is possible to replace that font for an Adobe Font? Is easier to work with those fonts.

It will probably be difficult to tell which font folder to use given some recent changes in Windows concerning the installation of fonts for all users or just the current user.

So you installed the font in Windows?

    How?

You need to right-click the font file and then select "Install for all users" from the menu.

I downloaded it from da font to my documents folder.

On a search it says to click on the zip file and then click 'extract all' but extract all isn't lit up and won't click, so the font is stuck in my documents and won't upload anywhere - not even to the font list on my laptop, never mind illustrator.

I'll try what you've said above and see if it works

    Thanks

    Hi Kim,

Thanks for reaching out. As suggested by others above, you need to install the font on the system and Illustrator will be able to pick it. To check whether the font is installed on your system or not, please go to Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Fonts and search for your font.

If you find your font here, that means it is installed successfully on your system. If the font is not there then you need to install it first.

For more details, you can refer to this help article: Using fonts in Illustrator.
