Unable to load symbol library

I created some symbols and added to symbols panel, saved symbols as a library. When I try to open the library from 'User Defined' I get an error: Illustrator could partially read this file. If I press Ok it shows me a document saying that it's a file that was saved without PDF content. No library panel opens. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

There isn't any mistake in your worksteps. What kind of symbol is it? Can you share screenshot with layer and appearance panel. Thx

Do you load the file as a library via the symbol panel?

Yes, clicking on the books icon in lower left of symbols panel, then User Defined, then my library. I also tried opening the library file from the main interface, File | Open but still getting same error.

This shows that the file is linked, can you embed it?

Libraries are saved without an embedded PDF. So you cannot place them.

When you open the library there should be the symbols in the symbol panel. Unless the library has been saved from a higher version than you have.
