Hi Albert,

Thanks for reaching out. As per the thread link you have shared, if you click an Illustrator file on the bridge it will not open. That's definitely shouldn't be happening. I am hopeful that the suggestion shared by Michael's helped you. If not, I would request if you can share a few more details like:

  • Which operating system and version of Illustrator you are working on?
  • Are the files opening directly from explorer/ finder?
  • Could you please confirm if the other files for example Photoshop or InDesign file opening fine from the bridge?

Regards,

Srishti

Hi, Srishti

sorry but I 've been away from my computer... thank you for your email...

- I'm using Window 10 last upgrade... and I just try what you asked me; I'm

able to open Photoshop file from Bridge no problem but in Illustrator only

at launch of the software; only the first file opens in Illustrator: I hope

I make myself understood.

- And I cannot open .AI File from Finder/desktop (I can open a file that

will trigger the launch of illustrator... a second no)

- Window 10 Microsoft® Windows® Operating System 10.0.17134.765 and Adobe

Illustrator 23.0.03

Thank you to all of you and sorry for the delay

Hi, hope you are doing good. I just wanted to confirm that what happens when the second file is opened from the Illustrator (File > Open)? Does the file open?

Please note that resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and Illustrator will launch with default settings. Please do take a backup of the folders. Location is mentioned in the help article.

Thanks!

Open the Preferences in Bridge, go to the File Type Associations tab and find the entry for Illustrator. Does the drop down list show Illustrator or something else?

Hi,

I had the same issue of not being able to open Illustrator from Bridge.  Your solution worked!  Thank you so much!
