Unable to resize the object with Selection tool in Illustrator

Participant ,

I'm having an issue with selection tool to resize a text box.  I'm not sure why this is happening because it's never happened before.  When I click on the selection tool, it moves the object but does not resize it.  What's going wrong?

Now after doing that, several things that usually work is not.  Selection tool works but typing into a text Box is not.  Usually you can double click in a existing text allows you to delete and re-type, now not working.

It looks like you are editing some kind of stock template.

Is everything unlocked? Is text still text or outlined?

I also have these all in one which seems like separate pages but how can break them up to print on separate pages?

Hard to tell what the problem is when we cannot see the (expanded) Layers and Appearance panel with the problem object selected.

Where did you get the stock template? Adobe Stock?

I thought I had an option to download that, but unfortunately not.

Can you show the (expanded) Layers and Appearance panel with the problem object selected.

No text element in that file is actually text. Everything has been converted to outlines. There are no text boxes.

The vast majority of these sort of files on Adobe Stock are not 'templates' ready for you to decant your content into, because of restrictions on fonts. The files just aren't set up that way. The best thing you can do is use it as inspiration for your own design, and you can do that just by looking at the preview.

ok, that makes sense.  One more questions, how can I separate the sheets so I can print them individually after I finish?  Right now, it's all together even in print preview.

You should create artboards for each page. The file as-is just has one giant artboard.

Bring up your artboard palette (under window menu). Then you can select new artboard on the artboard palette. You should be able to type in page dimensions, but if they are just letter sized, then you can keep adding artboards for each page.

You may need to select each page layout and move it to each artboard you have created.

I guess another easier option is to select all of your page layout art and then go to the artboard palette. On the hamburger menu you could select "convert to artboards".

That should split out your pages to several artboards.

Yes that looks to be correct.

You can then go to your Window Menu and select "Artboards" which will allow you to view, rename and sort them, if you like.

I apologize, I think I told you to select all of your artwork, that is incorrect. Please select just the outer rectangle on each of your page layouts before selecting "Convert to Artboards." If you don't have rectangles shapes around each page layout, then you will need to draw a rectangle around each page first before choosing "Convert to Artboards".

I think you tried converting to artboard before reading my following up post where I erred in my first comment in telling you to select all of your art.

Please draw rectangle shapes around each page layout. Next, select just the rectangle shapes (those drawn rectangles are what will define your artboard size), so make sure you draw them to the exact page size. Finally with all of the rectangle shapes selected, go to "Convert to Artboards".

That was done like you see and when I click on convert all, it brought back to the one below.
