hello, i need help please. i can not view or see the corner widgets on images, or select them to change size. (hide or show corner widget in menu doesn't seem to make a difference) and if i try to make changes to anything, there is a serious lag and i can't see the change until i click away entirely. it's most frustrating

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing. In addition to the suggestion shared by @Ton Frederiks, you may also try enabling the Bounding Box (shift + cmd + b) from the View menu.

If this doesn't help resolve the issue, I will request you to share a few more details like:

  • OS and version of Illustrator
  • Is the issue happening while working on a specific document?
  • Could you please share a sample document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link.
  • When did this start happening?
  • Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, or web extensions installed recently.
  • Does turning On/Off GPU performance and Real-Time Drawing and Editing from Illustrator preferences (cmd + k > Performance) help resolve the lagging in the app?

We will be looking forward to your response.

Thanks & Regards,

thanks for that, the bounding box is showing apparently.

as i mentioned above,  i went and made changes to the preferences which i believed was going to resolve the issue, but when i went to restart illustrator it would only close down with FORCE QUIT and when i reopened it, my preference changes had not been saved, and it didn't recognise any previous files i'd opened either. something strange happening here.. to answer your questions..

  • OS and version of Illustrator - i purchased only yesterday and is 25.4.1 downloaded directly from the online adobe site
  • Is the issue happening while working on a specific document? no it's happening with other documents also
  • Could you please share a sample document with us? You can upload it to the Creative Cloud (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the download link. - when i take a screen shot of the page the arrow button changes so you can't see exatly what it's like.. but i'll do that all the same..
  • When did this start happening? as soon as i've been using the program for the first time yesterday
  • Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, or web extensions installed recently. - not that i'm aware of but i'm asking my computer guy for confirmation
  • Does turning On/Off GPU performance and Real-Time Drawing and Editing from Illustrator preferences (cmd + k > Performance) help resolve the lagging in the app? no, it's still lagging. if i move an object it does move in real time only occasionally, but if i control z to undo the move it doesn't move until i click elsewhere. i still can't find anybox widgets to enable me to select and drag the image to larger or smaller..

Did you already restart Illustrator / your Computer?

If that does not help, try Reset Preferences:
