Unable to see recent files in home screen on Illustrator 2025

Community Beginner ,
Oct 13, 2024 Oct 13, 2024

Hello everyone.

With the latest update, thumbnails of my recent files are no longer visible on the opening home screen/opening screen of Illustrator. The My Files/Open Recent Files list shows the 30 most recent files  - nothing has changed here and it works.

Resetting illustrator settings doesn't help. Turning the GPU on/off does not help. Deleting older version settings/resetting current ones doesn't help either.

All methods indicated on this forum since 2019 do not work 😕

Some program bug - nothing can be done about it.

Has this happened to anyone else?

macOS 15.0.1 Sequoia

Illustrator 29.0

Thx Tom

Hello everyone,

We have an update from the product team! A backend fix has been applied. Please restart Illustrator to see if the issue is resolved.

If it persists, follow these steps:
1. Close all Adobe apps, including the Creative Cloud desktop app.
2. Navigate to the following folder location:
Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Adobe/CCX Welcome folder
Windows: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CCX Welcome\

3. Locate the folder named CCX Welcome and rename it to CCX Welcome.old.
4. Relaunch the Creative Cloud d

That looks like a new version. Nobody here (with exceptions like you) has the 2025 version.

You may want to mention it here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/

The Home screen shows the last files that have been edited with a particular version.

I have a couple different versions installed and also a couple different languages. The only thing that is indeed the same, is the "Your files" section with the recent AIC files. The Home screen is different. Even when I just switch the language.

I'm having the same issue, and tried your suggestions. I'm getting an error that the folder is in use. "the action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program. Close the folder or file and try again."
Nothing else is open on my computer.

Hello @iigs2020,

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having. Would you mind rebooting your computer in Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and then removing the folders to check if it helps?

If the problem persists, kindly share more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator and screenshots of the problem, so I can investigate this further.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I have same problem as iigs2020. Which folders should we remove? Or do you have another solution today?

I always update my Adobe softwares. Illustrator doesn't show the latest files or put up the latest version of my work, if I had closed the computer without saving.

Hello @KistaraqEgede,

I'm sorry to hear you're having similar trouble with Illustrator. Could you confirm the exact version of the OS/Illustrator installed and if you save your work locally (in a specific folder) or as a cloud document, so we can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
