Unable to Transfer Image From Photoshop to Illustrator

Hi there, was wondering if anyone was experiencing being unable to drag and drop images from photoshop to illustrator. When I move the image between the apps on my desktop, the green circle plus sign appears in Illustrator like it's going to drop the image, but then nothing happens. I can still drag images from Illustrator to Photoshop no problem. I know I can export a PNG file of the image and then place it in Illustrator, but it's not the same. Both Illustrator and Photoshop have been updated to the latest iterations (AI v29.3, PS v26.3). Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

It looks like a Photoshop problem, since it works with the current Illustrator and a previous version of Photoshop.

It has been mentioned here:

This seems to be a problem that is affecting all users. And, despite what people may say about color management, it does not seem like this was a deliberate decision by Adobe, but rather a mistake. Personally, this has been stressing me out, it seems silly, but being forced to change the way you work when you have a large flow of deliveries is never a good thing.

For now, what I am doing is selecting the entire image with "M", and then ctrl-C, ctrl-V in Illustrator, but if the image has more than one layer, it is already a problem, I need to merge the layers first.

Although, for us users, in practice it makes no difference whether the problem is in PS or AI, I understand that for Adobe, it makes sense to know exactly which application the problem is in. I believed it was in Illustrator because the problem appears in both the current version of PS and in the latest versions of PS Beta. But if returning to an older version of PS fixed the problem, then it is safe to say that the problem is in Photoshop.
Thanks for your clarification, Ton.

Yes, drag and drop does not seem working currently. I installed an older Photoshop version and it worked.

Placing is the workaround.

It may be a blessing that drag and drop does not work, it can ruin your document color profile and change the appearance of colors.
