Unable to Use Hex Codes to Assign Colors?

I'm a busy designer and suddenly I've hit a speed bump. I work with brands and lots of compliance so I use hex codes all day long to assign colors-- but now, when I paste the code in the color picker-- nothing happens. For example-- I created this rectangle- I was able to tap on a random color on this-- but when I type in a hex code, nothing happens. This has been happening since last week. I'm using version 26.0.1 I did reset my preferences to original settings- didn't change anything.

I thought a work-around would be to set up swatches for myself but it won't even let me do that-- the only way to get the color is to enter the CMYK or the RGB values-- which is frustrating-- what happened?

So when you paste the code, the color does not change?

Does it work when you paste the code in the color panel?

Make sure you haven't copied&pasted an extra space or paragraph return at the end... the Color Picker doesn't like that.
