Uninstall CADtools plugin

Community Beginner ,
Dec 09, 2016 Dec 09, 2016

I recently downloaded a trial version of CADtools but have decided I don't want to use it because it is slowing down my work flow. How can I completely uninstall this plugin and all of it's associated files? I can't find a plug-in folder for Adobe CC, and I've gone through and deleted the CADtools files in the Illustrator CS6 plug-ins folder.

Thanks!

After completing a search for CADtools.aip on my computer, I found two instances of the file I had not previously deleted. After deleting both of these files and restarting, it finally appears to be eliminated from my computer. Thanks to all for your help.

The plug-in should be on the first level of the plug-in folder in the application folder.

It was there, and I deleted it, but the plug-in is still activating every time I start Illustrator.

Restart the computer before restarting AI.

If you have installed CADtools and experience slowness, contact Hot Door support to find out what is occurring.

It could be something as simple as deleting preferences to fix your issue.  CADtools was completely rewritten

and is now much faster than before.  But don't forget that Hot Door offers a 90-day money back guarantee for any reason,

no questions asked.

You should provide a way to uninstall though, you're at version 11+ so there's no excuse to not provide a clean way to uninstall rather than have your users hunt down files all over the place.

For anyone wanting to uninstall CADtools, it is an easy process.

On Mac, close Illustrator and go to:

Applications > Adobe Illustrator (with version number) > Plug-ins > CADtools.aip

and drag CADtools.aip to the Trash.

On Windows, close Illustrator and go to:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator (with version number)\Plug-ins\CADtools.aip

and delete CADtools.aip

And if you are experiencing slowness, contact Hot Door support at support@hotdoor.com

for help. Just as another user stated, it will likely require deletion of preferences in a few

different locations, and I would explain that here if I knew your version of CADtools, version

of Illustrator and platform.  But send an email if you need further explanation!
