USA Logo - Need help placing an image inside of our logo!

Looking for some illustrator help...

I am trying to to insert an American Flag image into our logo. (Both are vector images). Since the logo isn't a shape I created, Crl+D wont work and neither will a clipping mask. I am very new to adobe and this is the extent of my knowledge. Anyone willing to share a good way to accomplish our american flag logo?

Thank you!!!

It would help a lot to give a more specific reply, if you'd show a screenshot of the logo in Illustrator. Perhaps even one in normal view, and one in Outline view. The logo probably consists of multiple elements, maybe grouped, maybe separate, maybe as a compound, maybe not...

For sure! See attached - normal view & outline view. I didn't create the logo, this is what I was given from a co-worker. It has multiple elements. My plan is to change the logo outline to blue and have the american flag fill it.  3rd picture is the just the blue element.

Thanks for your help! Lindsay

Ungroup the artwork.

Then make a compound path of those elements you want to fill with the flag.

Then create the clipping mask with the newly created compound path and the flag.

linnyrich,

If you can turn the logo objects into a Compound Path (without wrecking it, you can use it as a Clipping Path.

Otherwise, you may Group the parts, then turn it black or white and use it for an Opacity Mask with Clip ticked and Invert Mask ticked or unticked, whichever brings the flag forth.

Remember to have the logo on top of the flag.
