Using image in illustrator for a banner in Youtube

Hi all! Super novice here (that might be a generous term for whatever I am!)

I've made a banner in Illustrator to use for the heading art for my youtube channel. I have it all marked out the way I want it, but when I go to export it, and eventually upload it to youtube, it keeps saying the file is too small. Youtube recommends certain dimensions, and when I apply those dimensions something hideous appears!

I'm racking my brain to figure out how save the image in a way that meets the pixel requirements or whatever.

So far what I've done.

Image

>export as jpeg

>>attempt to upload

>>>error file to small

>export as png

>>>see above

>adjust pixels to "youtube recommend settings"

>>CRTL-Z!

>>Scour the internet

I honestly looked around for similar questions, but I haven't seen a step by step on how to save your image for the internet.

Thanks for any advice, If I need to clarify any points please let me know!

Thanks
Nick

In Order
1) default image
2) When I try to use the Save For Web Option
3) in the Save for Web option, the previews only show half my banner
4) When using traditional "export as jpeg, or png" files uploaded to youtube...thus far.

1. In the save for web window, your image is too wide to display in its entirety at 100% zoom. That's the only reason you're seeing half; nothing is actually being cut off.

2. Youtube says at least 2048 x 1152 px. Your image is only 251 px tall. Perhaps you could try making a banner that is the size Youtube recommends.
