Using .pat files in Illustrator?

So I found a .pat file of patterns I was able to use in an older version of CS's Illustrator (I'm think like CS or CS 2).

When I try to open the .pat file in Illustrator CC 2019, it says the .pat file is an "unknown format and its styles cannot be imported".

I opened an old piece of work I used the patterns on, and the patterns show up in the swatch tab but when I try to open the .pat file they are from, I get the same message.

The patterns themselves are just .png files.

Is there anyway I can open this .pat file in Illustrator CC 2019 or at least convert it so that it is usable (like an .ase or .ai file)?

Hi there,

Pattern(.pat) files cannot be loaded directly in Illustrator.

They can be loaded in Photoshop: PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL: HOW TO INSTALL .PAT FILES - YouTube

Then you can import them to Illustrator: How to Use Photoshop Patterns in Illustrator - take patterns from PS to IL - YouTube

Another example of Adobe making it more difficult to use their products. Great user experience. Keep it up!
