Various Illustrator issues since latest update (28.1) on macOS

I have several bugs that makes working with the software almost impossible. I have Illustrator 28.1 running on Sonoma 14.2.1

Issues I've found already are:

  • Can't align items to artboard and to each other
  • Rulers set to artboard rulers, but when I'm checking an item in the Transform panel it sometimes shows really odd numbers (like -2856 mm)
  • flickering ghost images from time to time
  • After duplicating an artboard the items on it aren't aligned the same way anymore (like if I'm using a filled rectangle as a background it moves away from the sides of the artboard)
  • I've selected items on the same layer on an artboard and with it Illustrator selected other items on a different artboard that wasn't even on the same layer

Do you reboot your computer regularly?

Have you already reset the preferences? This will erase all your settings.

I'm shutting it down after I finish working every day.

I reset now my preferences, but it does the same when I'm duplicating an artboard. 😞

Some of what you are experiencing could be related to Sonoma.

As for the weird position values of your objects: please share a sample file that has this.

Sorry Monika I had a lot of work. I've made screenshots about the problem. I really don't know what's causing it, but it's really annoying. The first two screenshots are about the positioning problem, you can see that the rulers are set to Artboard rulers and showing 0, but the X and Y values aren't matching. When I want to position an item to a certain axis value, it's not possible.

The third is the "ghost image" or I don't know how to call it.

You measure from the center, use the upper left X/Y to get the coordinates.

Nice catch @Ton Frederiks ! 👍 I didn't expect a software update to change my settings, so I didn't check that. But now this part works 😮💨
Most of the other issues seem to be ok after another update. I'm hoping for the best! 🙂

Good to hear you've got it working, Anita.
