Vector images showing as blurred

For a couple months now, I've been experiencing weird illustrator behavior where images within my file (both vector and pixel linked images) are appearing as super blurred, double-images. It seems to be link to GPU Performance, however, having GPU Performance checked has become a necessity to the brevity of my workflow. It seems insane to me that the user would need to downgrade their experience and workflow in order to not experience glithces like these. I've reached out to tech support and did not get a solution because the issue was not happening while I was sharing my computer remotely. He was like, "Well, it's working perfectly fine now." I explained that I cant't make it happen, it just happens. And it's frustrating for a product that I use for 12 hours a day, everyday for over a decade. I've never experienced this and dont seem to be getting anywhere with the tech team. Wondering if anyone else out there has expereince this and what, if anything, is there to do about it? I've included screen shots!!!

Thanks in advance. Sorry for coming off salty, this has just been a frustrating point of friction for me while trying to work full-time. I'm so hoping it can be resilved.

Hello @khnumber7,

Thank you for reaching out, and we appreciate your patience with this matter. To assist you better, could you please provide additional information, such as your operating system and the version of Adobe Illustrator you are currently using, along with a sample file?

If you're on Windows, we recommend performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://adobe.ly/432ySpr) to check if it helps.

For macOS users, we suggest trying a manual reset of Illustrator's preferences:

  1. Close all Adobe applications.
  2. Navigate to the following locations:
    • ~/Library/Caches
    • ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
    • ~/Library/Preferences
  3. Rename Adobe Illustrator, com.adobe.illustrator, and Adobe Illustrator [version] Settings folders to Adobe Illustrator.old, com.adobe.illustrator.old, and Adobe Illustrator [version] Settings.old.
  4. Launch Illustrator from the Creative Cloud.

Please perform these steps and let us know if the issue persists. We understand the frustration and are committed to resolving this for you.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hi there,

Yes I'm on a Mac, Sonoma OS 14.2.1
My version of illustrator is version 28.2

I've tried doing the prompts you stated above, but don't see the end
results you're talking about.

For example, when I go to LIBRARY > CACHE I don't see anything related to
Adobe.

When I try LIBRARY > APPLICATION SUPPORT > ADOBE I don't see a folder for
illustrator.

And finally, when I go to my applications > Adobe Illustrator I do not see
a settings folder.

Perhaps, you are referring to an older or different operating system?

Thanks!
Kerry

Hi @khnumber7,

Thank you for providing additional details and the steps you've taken so far. It's indeed frustrating when technical issues disrupt your workflow, especially when you rely on the software daily. Please update to v28.3 and see if that helps.

Also, to better assist you, could you please share the model of your Mac along with its specifications? Additionally, if possible, could you provide the system info from the Illustrator Help menu?

Regarding the issue you're facing, could you confirm if this blurriness occurs with all files or just specific ones? If you have a sample file that demonstrates the problem, sharing it would greatly assist our investigation.

In the meantime, you can try adjusting the document raster effect settings from the effect menu to 72ppi resolution or below to see if it helps alleviate the blurriness.

Additionally, you can switch to CPU preview mode to check if the blurriness persists, as it could be related to the rendering process & capabilities of your Mac GPU.

Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue for you.

Best regards,

Anshul Saini
