Vectorizing State Lines

New Here ,
Dec 03, 2018 Dec 03, 2018

Hi Everyone!

I'm starting a new project and hoping for some direction. Basically, I need to create extremely detailed copies of state borders - my initial thoughts were to go in small sections using overlayed images from google maps with low opacity and basically tracing in Illustrator. But I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas that might speed this process up or by more effective overall.

Thanks for your input!

How much accuracy do you require? There are free outline maps of states available on the web but it sounds like you want something better. You might check the USGS website for what's out there. You also need to remember that there are limits to the number of anchor points that AI can work with.
