Verifying access to message when opening files in Illustrator

I have not had luck at all lately with my work IT solving this issue. I'm just going to take this matter into my own hands. I get the, 'Verifying access to '__________'' and apparently it is a drive that is no longer existing within the company i work for. All of my assests for my file are on my internal E drive, and any time i click stop. it just goes to save it like normal. this pop up occasionally freezes my Ai.

I just want this fixed.

Below are just screenshots of what has happened

Hello @Rachel25443087m8rf,

Sorry to hear about this experience. Would you mind trying to work on your files in Illustrator from a local directory, like the desktop, and then manually copying them over to the network drive and checking if it helps?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

When will this issue be fixed? It has not become worse than ever. Not only does I have to verify access every time I open a file worked on by our external asset, it keeps checking while I working on the file. I have lost count on how may hours this has cost me (not to mention patience) the last year. Please fix this. NOW.

That is only temporary solution. Why not make Illustrator realize that that directory is unavailable and stop searching for it like 2 minutes. Why I have to wait for nothing? Why cant it realize that it can't be found. It happens now with absolutely every project that is older than the new external drive. Sum on lost working minutes is staggering.

This is not helpful. Showing how to “fix” network issues, or local storage issues. Does not solve working on externally provided files, with embedded images etc mind you. Yet your software insists on verifying access to EMBEDDED files. Why? And why does it keep doing it, one should only have to check this ONCE.

Hello @Kai NTP

I’m sorry to hear you’re having similar trouble with Illustrator. Would you mind sharing more details, like the version of the OS/Illustrator installed, and whether this happens when using a network drive set up with a specific protocol, such as SMB/AFP/etc so we can better assist you?

Also, check if Full Disk Access is enabled for Illustrator if you’re using macOS and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
