Hi
I work in academics and i'm used to draw my figures on illustrator.
So I use the basic tools in this software.
However I cannot find how to center vertically a text in a textbox. I would like to have a text as I have with a textbox in powerpoint for instance.
It bothers me since, then, I want to align the text with an image. The way it works makes the text a bit upper than the image.
I saw people who already asked that but I don't really understand how to fix it.
Thanks a lot for your help

You are using line text, which by itself cannot have any alignment other than what is encoded in the typeface itself. If you need to work with specifc alignments, you have to use paragraph text, group your text with a custom bounding box or expand it to its outlines, which then behave like objects with bounding boxes.

To make the bounding box fits the text :
1- go to effects -> path -> outlines object
2- edit -> preferences : turn on : " use preview bounds"
