Hi,
in this hardware/software combination --
Wacom tablet and driver 6.3.21-8
Illustrator CC2017
Mac OS Sierra --
I am having problems moving and duplicating small objects.
Symptom:
It can be difficult to grab small objects. It is easier to duplicate objects that are not selected. If you zoom in a little, you are fine.
I am guessing that many users have this issue, but it is so minor that it seems like human errors.
Not so good solution:
I have just installed Illustrator CC2017 on my old Mac desktop computer with Yosemite, and the issues are gone.
Not a solution at all:
Using the newest Wacom driver (currently 6.3.22-3) produces many other problems, as has been described by others
These move-and/or-duplicate-problems are aggravating.
Does anyone else notice this?
Does anyone know a work-around, other than going back to Yosemite or CC 2015?

Hi jonf,
In order to diagnose this properly, We have to check the following things
If you are on Sierra versions 10.12.4 or below please upgrade to 10.12.5
Which graphic you are using and when it was updated last?
And are you duplicating objects on wacom screen?
Regards
Srishti

Hi Srishti,
it is Sierra 10.12.5.
I am using a new Wacom Intuos Draw Small White,
I have two graphic tablets, one of them has been checked by the Wacom repair service.
The issue occurs with both graphic tablets.
I am not using the newest driver, because this has fundamental issues with Illustrator CC 2017, as linked in the previous post.
I am working on an iMac 5K, no Cintiq or other screen involved.
I hope this helps:
at sec 30, I am trying to dupclitate.
With small objects, scaling only seems to work in the top right corner.

Hi Srishti and others,
here is another video, shorter than the previous.
All I am doing is trying to move the object. However, it only works, when the object is not selected.

Hi jonf,
One more thing I would like to confirm, if we remove Wacom completely from the system , how does the application performs.
If it is still the same, please follow these steps
1) Boot system to safe boot with same account and check how it works, if it works fine close all third party running services. For details click here Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support
2) Log in to root account For details check here How to enable the root user on your Mac - Apple Support
Check how application works there, If it works fine
Follow same steps for
~/Library/Caches
~/Library/Application support
/Library/Preferences
/Library/Caches
/Library/Application support
Note: If you are on office system ,these (/Library/Application support and/Library/Preferences) folders may or may not allow you to add user , that is completely fine.
Then Restart system and login to your user account and check.

Hello Srishti,
thanks for your help. As I hope the first video shows, I have no problem with the application when using a mouse.
So, am I correct in assuming that your suggested steps are not necessary?
Thanks
Jon

Hi Jon,
This looks to be a Wacom driver-related issue. The most recent update has caused loss of key functions for some customers running Sierra. Could you please download the previous Wacom tablet driver and let us know if this solves the issue for you?
You can download here: Drivers | Wacom

Hi Wren,
thanks. As I described in my (lengthy) first post, I am not using the newest driver, due to these issues.
I am using the previous version (6.3.21.8).
However, I have found no way to obtain the earlier version (6.3.20.11), because Wacom only has the latest two versions on their site.
(Googling this did not help either)
On my older desktop Mac (El Capitan, same Wacom driver), I have the same problem, so it is not hardware-specific or the OS.
Am I really the only one with these problems?
Can you at Adobe test if scaling small objects works just as well with a Wacom pen as it does with a mouse?
Thank you.

Sorry about that, I misread the information you had provided and jumped to conclusions. Thanks for providing the videos as well!
I have an Intuos Pro (M) and a Cintiq in my office, currently running Sierra and the latest Wacom driver. I'm not able to replicate the exact problems you're describing here, but I can see how a small bounding box could cause issues. The pen and mouse seem to be working as they should be on my end.
What about GPU Performance? Do you have this turned on/off while you're working? Any plug-ins? Trying to think of other variables that may be causing problems.

Thanks wrensauer,
I hadn't thought of testing Illustrator CC17 with my Cintiq.
It is hooked up to my old desktop Mac.
Sadly: Same problem here.
Illustrator settings:
On this Mac, GPU is off. On my iMac 5K, GPU is on.
I am not using Illustrator plugins on either computer.
I can't think of anything else.
I am also corresponding with Wacom. I will ask them about the 6.3.20 driver next. (currently 6.3.22 is the newest driver)

Hi Jon,
I would like to know if the steps suggested by Wren worked for you, or the issue still persists.
Kindly update the discussion if you need further assistance with it.
Thanks,
Srishti
