Wacom double click and sticking in Illustrator

I see post after post about this issue. I've gone through a myriad of steps to resolve this issue and still nothing. Wacom customer support takes me through the same process over and over. Uninstall, delete all files from a list of locations that they provide, create another user account on the computer, search through and delete same files, reinstall.. and while this seems to fix it for a short period of time, it once again resurfaces. So I gave up on the tablet after 15 years of using them. What I have been able to do is recreate the issue as well as (somewhat) prevent it...

What I've found is that when my illustrator file starts getting complicated, it occurs more frequently than it doesn't. When I say my file gets complicated, that's obviously a relative term. I have some ornate vector art that I'm working on—it's really not all that complicated. I have 32gb of ram, but because we're working with a poorly executed web app, illustrator really doesn't handle much these days. So when I remove extraneous artwork from the file it starts running smoother, and when I begin duplicating the artwork, I notice this double clicking and sticking occuring almost nonstop. It's frutstrating, and I don't know who's at fault here. My guess is it's both a bit of Adobe and Wacom, but I'm sure they'll point fingers at each other... but let's get something straight here, both claim to have a premium product and sell it at a premium price. Really they're both mediocre at best. If they could just come together and support each other, and figure out drivers that work, I'm sure we'd all be in a happier place.. but like any complaint, this will get lost in the mix. Another dissatisfied customer.. but until their sales start plateauing, they'll just continue doing what they're doing—onboarding new users who are hobbyists. Hopefully a competitor will come along so they actually have to make working products again. It sucks that our careers rely on such undependable products and services.

I have a Wacom tablet and have been using Illustrator for years and have not experienced this specifically with a Wacom stylus. I have had enormous AI files that have lagged on my machine, but that was due to my hardware limitations, not the software. Not defending blindly here, but some details could help find a possible solution.

What version of AI are you running? OS? Graphics card(s) details, etc. Specific Wacom model?

When it comes to issues, its not always about RAM. You could have 64 GB of RAM on a slow/older processor or outdated graphics cards which both can affect CPU/GPU performance.

I appreciate the response. I would hope things aren't out of date because it's relatively new, and the issue has been occuring since I've had this machine (and a new tablet, bought at the same time). Up until last year, I was using a 2012 mac (running CS6) and an old tablet, which I never updated the OS just because things seemed to work well, and I was nervous for this exact situation. And I should mention that once I close out my files, the double-clicking and sticking seems to subside. I can't quite tell if this is happening in photoshop, but it doesn't seem to be happening in any apps outside of Adobe CC. Anyways, these are my current specs:

iMac (Retina 5K, 2020)

iOS 11.6.8
3.1 GHz 60Core Intel i5

32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
AMD Radeon Pro 5300 4GB

Wacom Intuos Pro PTH 660

Thank you for your time and help.

The issue is with Mac OS being more aggressive with needing allowances for the most basic things like a third party input device.

I can do that. I also wanted to follow up with a quick update. It does seem to be occuring now. It wasn't happening in the file that I was in earlier, but it has been starting with a different file now. It's somewhat infrequent—enough that I'll take this as a win. It's happened maybe 10 to 15 times in the past couple hours. The clicking will get weird like random releases, or release and then reselect wherever I'm hovered over during a click-and-drage, but not really double-clicking.. This usually persists like 3ish times in a row, and then it seems better. Anyways, again, I can work with this. So hopefully it doesn't get worse. And to answer your other question—all files are local. I don't have any servers or externals connected.
