What are these files? What is their relationship with one another? What are you viewing them in?

Doug is really an awesome troubleshooter, but he is unable to read your mind. So you might want to add a lot more detail.

Well ok, I posted in the illustrator forum, so I thought that was obvious.

Not much I can say except that yesterday file was fine, this morning I opened it and is all grey and washed out, the other one is ok tho.

So I'm blind here.

Can you show screenshots of the entire workspace and tell us something about each file and your workflow here? Otherwise it's anyone's guess. Maybe the colours are actually different. Maybe they're from differently-calibrated monitors. Maybe there are extra objects on one of the files, etc. etc.

So these are copies of the same file?

Pick a colour value from the brighter one. Does Illustrator think it's the same as the darker one?

You have GPU preview on for one and not the other. Does anything change if you view both in the same mode?

The washed out file comes from the other one, I only saved it with another name.

And I just did pick colours from the character, and they show correctly, only in the canvas shows wrong, super weird.

Also, Just copied and paste the whole thing to a new document, and it's fine, so must be something in the document ? but did't touch anything.

seeyoc,

We could be looking at a corrupt document.

But different Layers are shown and made visible in the two screenshots in your post #6. What happens if you make the External visible in the washed out one?

seeyoc,

Sometimes a document becomes corrupt, and the only real solution is to create a new one; in some cases it is possible to copy (some or all of) the artwork from the corrupt one.

If you look at the Layers palette, there are differences in the Layers and also in which Layers are visible; depending on a number of things like transparency and blending modes, underlying layers can influence the appearance of artwork in the higher layer(s); in the grey one it seems that there are more layers but only the top layer is set to visible.

seeyoc,

How do you see the GPU is on or off ?

Together with the document name, to the upper left; but as far as I can see, both say (RGB/GPU Preview).

The duller one shows just RGB/Preview.
